Hi,
I am an EMT-B looking for jobs, but I am worried about some of the physical requirements; I am about 125Ibs, I am in shape and run a lot, but I've got a small build. I am worried they are going to take one look at me and think I may not be physically cut out.

There requirements include:

Must be able to lift, push, pull, carry 250 Lbs. infrequently (1-3 times per shift)
Must be able to lift, push, pull, carry 150 Lbs. frequently (5-10 times per shift)
Must be able to climb stairs while carrying up to 150 Lbs.

Does anybody have the same concern as me, and how do you navigate this in the employment process?

Thanks!

125, in shape and a runner???

What are you concerned about? :)

Have you seen what crawls out of ambulances everyday?

Stay healthy, stay fit...you are doing the right plan and you will not have any issue. Just know how to lift properly and know when to say "lets call for extra help".

Lifting properly is the key. Straight back, great posture, flexing only at the hips and knees. Never carry the stretcher up stairs, use a reeves sleeve or stair chair.

Youll be fine.
