We recently went to the electronic PCR's and I'll be the first to admit I was 100% dead-set against them. There were weight issues, battery life, drop worries, etc. That was about 4 months ago, but now I have to admit that they are not that bad. While I still would rather hand-write my PCR's, the new units add considerably to the legibility and my typing has improved greatly. They have proven to be surprisingly tough and once you get used to the ins & outs of using them they are OK. The bellweather has been our newer employees who never wrote a paper PCR. With no past habits to unlearn they absolutely love them and can complete a PCR faster with the tablets than us old-timers can. You must make sure to plug them in every night or face the wrath of the next crew for leaving them a dead PC, but that's education more than anything. Automation is here to stay, so acceptance is probably going to be to everyone's advantage.
