Currently near the end of my first semester of medic school. Next - Short summer semester 12 weeks of Cardiology, ACLS, ASLS, and EKG monitor skills.. then final 16 week semester of PHTLS, PALS, more trauma edu. and finally 144 hr internship with Fire/Rescue.
Sounds like a lot to take on already but I'm looking at advancing my medical education after medic school and am trying to figure out ways to take what I'm learning in medic school further. I don't feel my lectures and labs are enough. (my lab has consisted of skills tests in which I regurgitate NREMT-like forms for ALS skills) Lecture is ppt, ppt, and yes, more ppt.. that don't go further than mundane facts from the text.
I'm looking for scenario-based practice, further readings/education, suggestions for experience. I'm in the process of landing an EMT gig with a local IFT so that should help with the experience!
