Leland Volunteer Fire/Rescue Department, Inc. is accepting applications for the position of Lieutenant. Salary range of a Lieutenant is 45,981.00 - 57,181.50 including employer paid full medical/dental/vision benefits, paid vacation and sick days, 10 yearly floating holidays, retirement through the NCSFA Association, with matching employer contribution (3% max.). Final Starting Salary will depend on qualifications.

GENERAL STATEMENT OF JOB

Under general supervision, supervises the performance of skilled work in firefighting operations, assisting accident victims and performing advanced emergency care including the administration of life sustaining treatment. Work involves serving as a supervisor of fire companies and ambulance crews, is responsible for the medical care administered to the patient. Employee is responsible for performing in accordance with established fire, emergency medical procedures, techniques and departmental policies and procedures, but must exercise considerable independent judgment in identifying a victim's condition and in applying life-sustaining treatment.

Employee is exposed to the normal hazards of firefighting and emergency medicine. Employee must submit to background check, periodic drug screens, and be bondable.

MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE

An Associate Degree in Emergency Medical Services or Fire Science, preferred. 5 years experience in Fire & EMS with a minimum of 3 years supervisory experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience, which provides the required skills, knowledge and abilities for the position.

Required Certifications for the position:
  • NC EMT-P Credential
  • AHA ACLS, AHA BCLS, AHA PALS or equivalent
  • NC FFII Certification
  • NC Haz-Mat Level I (Ops) Certification
  • NC EVD Certification
  • NC Driver Operator Pumps
  • NC Driver Operator Aerials
  • NC Fire Officer I (if applicant does not currently have must be able to obtain within 18 months of employment)
  • Pro-board or IFSAC equivalent accepted
