Only in Arkansas - Man Blows Off Hand With Homemade Cannon

Was doing ER time in Tyler, TX during medic class when the comm center reported a gun shot wound to the abdomen was inbound by air. So anyhow the trauma surgeon came in and we were all getting ready for a GSW when the air crew called in their report. They were apparently a bit hard to understand because next thing we know the nurse comes in a s tells the doctor it is not a GSW, but actually a cannonball wound. The look on the doctor's face was priceless!
Turns out what actually happened was a homemade cannon had self destructed sending shrapnel everywhere. The guy had a nice piece of it flay open his abdomen. He is lucky he was standing sideways to the blast. He said that what he thinks is the same piece tore through his truck, in the passenger door and out the drivers door.
