If you are a firefighter and a paramedic for the FDNY can you split your time between the engine and the bus? or do you have to choose one?

Considering the ridiculous difference in pay at FDNY between medics and fire-fighters, it'll be an easy choice.

you can't be both. Your one or the other.

Technically, the only way you could do both would be to work per diem for a NYC 911 participating hospital while working FT as a FDNY FF. The CFR engines get extra per call pay for the medical aids that they run.

If you're on a truck company or a squad, you're safe. They don't do any EMS runs.
