Iv'e been a certified EMT-B for two months now and volunteer at a local volly. However, I would like to one day work at NSLIJ... I heard it's very competitive though and I am just 20 years old.

Im new to all this! Please, could someone tell me how the process normally works? As in - how long does it take to get an interview/ what's it life being a pro-b and for how long/ shifts.... thanks! I'm reading up on other threads in the meantime. And do you think I could actually get a position? =)

welcome to EMT life

What and where is nslij?

haha, thanks! Loving EMS so far!

It's in NY - North Shore LIJ Hospital, it's a pretty big 911 system they work with.

I created an online profile =)
I kinda want to know if I am out of my league, because I am new to EMS and not familiar with all the details- but I am willing to learn! Hopefully I even get an interview, lol.

Are people usually hired as pro-b students, where they learn their systems codes/ protocols/ ambulance details...?

More experience will make you a much better candidate. North shore LIJ attracts lots of emt-bs so they have their choice of new hires.
