Hello everyone! Figured I'd make an introduction and say a few things about myself before I begin surfing and what not.

Well, my name is Mark, I am 21 years old. I have 3 month old daughter and happy little family. Recently got out of basic training and AIT for the army reserve. The whole point in me leaving was to come home and get some college money and discipline to start going to EMT school.

Chose EMS because I grew up wanting to be some kind of first responder. I want to help people however I can.

Honestly I have very little training medically.. CLS through the army is all I have, and a CPR class...;) but I am eager to learn! I start my EMT school in August and am very excited for that. I'm here on this site to learn and take advice from everyone willing to give it. I want to be the top in my class and work hard for it.

Read one of these posts and it said to volunteer for a CERT team, get CPR instructor and anything to be creative and make up for lack of experience. I plan on doing all of this.

I hope to find a good little home here and learn as much as I possibly can.

Looks like we're in the same boat! I just posted my intro without looking at yours, and they look exactly the same. I am 20 years old, and am a helicopter mechanic in the Army National Guard. I as well start EMT school in August.

Yeah I just saw yours too. I do Petroleum Supply in the reserve. It's awesome to meet people in similar circumstances. Best of luck to you, I hope a little bit down the line we both are doing EMT work and progressing from there.

Same to you my friend. Stay safe out there.

I had no formal medical background either. All I had was children. One with a history of childhood seizures and a preemie that came home on O2.
Just pay attention in class and at clinical. You don't have to stop at the minimum clinical requirements. I did extra for experience at a place that let me run every call.
Enjoy, and never stop learning!
