I was wondering if you guys/gals had any tips on back strength test for a fitness test? what machine should i use at the gym to help with that... i passed everything but that on the test and so i didnt get the job  I was just wondering if any of you guys can help me out. thank you

What was the test they had you do that you failed? Are you looking for upper or lower back excercises? Core strength?

i had to keep my knees straight, had to bars in front and back of them, and then one across my chest. i had to bend forward and make an L shape and then back straight again. it is all pressure to see how strong your back is so i am thinking upper exercise

Sounds like lower back based on your description.

If these look anything like the motion you were being tested on, then these exercises should help increase your lower back strength.

SO google crossfit of the day, use any website there will be a lot, write down the workouts use youtube or google how to do the workout and complete. I served 4 years in the marine corps two deployments overseas this stuff works. the idea is you outrun a lifter and outlift a runner. Mix of two perfect worlds.

thanks you guys if i come across a pic or even name of that thing i will post it... i cant believe i didnt pass that when i passed the lifting weights up n down stairs without a problem... ugh so disappointed in myself

"If at first you don't succeed, try, try again"!

Keep at it. That's the key to training of any kind. Of course, it also applies to trying for the job again. Double win.

Also. +1 for crossfit.

Im having a hard time picturing the exercise that you are describing. Can you find something on Google image or something?

If you are looking to strengthen your upper back:

Seated rows
Lat Pulldowns
Pull ups
Bent over rows
T-bar rows

For lower back:

Dead lifts
Dead lifts
More dead lifts
Mason twists (with or without a medicine ball)
Planks

Back
