I just had a interview at Rural/Metro on Thursday and they called me today offering me a full time position. Their academy is one week long in Milpitas (2.5hr commute) and my working schedule would be 4x one week, 3x the other, 12hr shifts. Therefore, it would conflict with at least one day of school since I have class M-W-F. In this case, the supervisor who interviewed me said that I could try to have someone cover those shifts. They want to know by tomorrow if I can take the job. but...

Today I had another interview with Falcon Ambulance for a part time position but they said they'll let me know in about a week or so. Their shifts are 10s or 24s.

They are both about the same driving distance from my house (1.5hrs). And they are both IFTs.

My dilemma: I'm also a full time pre-nursing student. I would prefer a job that's more flexible with my schedule, which Falcon is, but I'm not positive yet if i got the job or not.

What would you do?

Yeah if you are living at home and don't NEED the money then just focus on school.

That is one of the things that I struggle with now. I have a family and a newborn baby. I juggle family, work, and my education, then my class at the fire house; on top of all of that the constant homework. Focus on your education now, it'll pay off in the end! As they say, it doesn't get any easier with age.

Thanks for the responses. I did turn down the offer at R/M. School does have first priority. But I think I will take the offer at Falcon (if they give it to me) just because they do work around my schools schedule, and I do want to get the extra experience.

focus on nursing school, working as a emt will just add additional stress and subtract attention from whats really important.
