i just wanted to ask a question. the orginization that mandates our certification, is supposed to be run by the best and smartest medics in the united states. what i wanted to know is why it takes so long to grade a few tests, especially since they run through a machine to grade them. okay so they have to make sure that the application is in order and filled out properly but with a $20 application fee from each applicant, they should be able to hire more people to read the applications. i for one can say the my application is filled out correctly, our instructor went over it line by line so we had it right. okay even if there are 100,000 applications and each application takes a maximum of 5 minutes to read over, that is 500,000 minutes, which breakes down into roughly 8333 hours which is about one year. that is for one person to check them with out a break for an entire year. that is pretty impossible!!! but if they were to hire 100 people and pay them $10 per hour (which is more than a basic makes in texas) for 8 hours a day they could have that little stack knocked out in about 11 days... $88,000 out of $2,000,000 is not really a big chunck if you think about. okay they need people to stuff envelopes. well if it takse a total of ten seconds to stuff one envelope that is about 1000 labor hours with ten people working for $8 per hour it can e done in about 13 days and it would only cost about $960. so if they told the applicants that their results would be in their mail box in about 16-20 days then it would be feasable wouldn't it... just a thought...

of course this would be unnessesary now that they are going to computer based testing now... so i just waisted about 30 minutes of my day... and about 10 of yours... sorry...

A guy at FD in going Monday for his 4th try....this time on the computerized test...I'll report back on how he did. No subscales! ;)

CHILL!!!!!

its not the end of the world. so you have to wait a few weeks for your results. i know people that have waited for months for their results from MA OEMS. it happens. maybe they hired all those folks you mentioned. and maybe they have a great little office set up with all the amenities and what not and everybody loves tgo come to work and works real hard and processes a million apps a day. but the day before you filed yours, the whole office burned down with everybody in it. now there dow to one guy working in a winabago in between funerals. you just need to calm down and wait. i know when i was waiting for mine i was out fo my mind. and everybody and their brother told me just that. chill the f out. have a drink. have a smoke. take a lude. whatever. the answer will come in do time

I think what he's saying is that it takes a while to grade the tests because there are a lot of tests being submitted and the NREMT folks don't have an infinite number of monkeys grading the tests.

That's quite reasonable to me. ;)

Are you saying that tests were graded by monkeys? Thats why it takes a million years to grade them! I thought an intelligent desinger graded the test in about 6 days and rested on the 7th.

If they were graded by monkeys, I think they would have been done faster.

I agree though - just chill and wait. I know it will drive you crazy and you will look every day for your results. But they will come. Don't worry. I finished my EMT class in May - the closest test wasn't until the end of June -and I got my certs by October... That was over a year ago now.

i know what yall are saying, and it wouldn't be so bad if my coordinator was doing everything she was supposed to be doing. plus i have interviews comming up and i am going broke trying to make a living while i wait. monkeys would be helpful, (they aren't such jerks on the phone...lol) but you take what you can get. if i had gone to a college and gotten any other degree i could go out the next morning and get a job without a care in the world. i just hate being an "emt" and not being able to say that i am an emt... after all i just spent almost $1000 i didn'thave. thank yall for your words of encourgement and i will try to remember about the drink thing... lol

:P

First, NREMT organization is not "ran" by EMT's. It actually employees very few EMT's at all. It is a testing organization, not an EMS!

So you have to wait a while, I wished they would go back to the provisional period (6 month waiting period) after you received your results before you could get your patch or certificate. This would entice more to work in the field and make those appreciate being able to wear the insignia.

We read so many 'that can't wait".. then 6 months later, you never hear or see from them again, due to they found out what EMT is really like.
