Hey guys, just like the title, I am moving to Socal VERY shortly. My fiance has to be relocated to Kaiser of Hollywood for work.

My question is pretty simple, I need to know what exactly do I need to to be an EMT in LA? I heard that you need a license from the DOT. I currently have my state card, have my ADL from DMV, CPR/AED. If someone can help me out, it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in Advance!!

You have all this assuming you have a medical examiner's card - since you worked in CA I assume you do.

You will need an LA County "Expanded" Scope Cert - this can be obtained through a few hour class from a training agency or the department that hires you.
Lastly the LA City DOT card you mentioned - don't worry until after you are hired. You need to be employed by an agency to apply for it.

So apply and see if the company you want to work at will provide you with an expanded scope certificate or if you need to find a place to take the class. Most EMT schools offer it in LA County.

Is this "expanded scope cert" only in LA county?

It's the LA County specific EMT protocol that varies from other counties.

Thanks for your reply! I actually already applied for a place called FirstMed ambulance. Any thoughts on them? I am assuming you currently work and live in LA?

Also, can you tell me several companies out there that I can look into? Hope its not too much trouble for you? Thanks!!
