Hi everyone, I am new to this site, and I really enjoy reading the new posts every day. I have a question and I hope someone can help me out. I start my emt class next week, but I also have my phlebotomy certification and medical assistant certification. So I was wondering what exactly can I do on the rescue squad. I give shots at work and have started IV's and administer meds and perform numerous types of test on patients. Does this allow me to do these things for the rescue squad. Thanks and look forward to chatting with everyone.

No it does not.

On the rescue squad, you are a First Responder until you get your EMT Basic. At that time, your title and job scope is that of a Basic when representing/performing duties for the squad.

You can not work beyond/above the scope of your basic with out the expressed consent of your medical director or state guidelines, whichever apply wherever you are.
