Does your department do anything for members who have served/are serving in the US Military in terms of recognition? We are an urban department and wear Class A uniforms from 0700-1900, which include badges, name plates, and "CASS" pins, as well as "years of service" pins. Given that, I'm thinking about proposing a "Military Service Recognition" pin. Wondering if anyone else is doing anything like that.

Thanks all!

I'm confused. You wear uniforms everyday, during the day, to show support for the military?

No no. I'm talking about adding a pin or recognition of some kind for those of us serving currently or who have served. Not for everyone.

I think what Chimpie is asking more about the uniforms.....for instance, in a lot of places, Class A uniforms are full down service dress (coat, blouse, shiny shoes, whole 9's). Perhaps you meant Class B uniforms....

I'd much rather just have someone tell me thank you or maybe buy me lunch than do all that.

You ever get down this way and I'll buy you a beer.

It's a deal. I need to go down to just north of Nashville when I get a chance to meet with the family of one of the veterans from the WWII unit I am writing a book about but that's the only foreseeable trip I have coming up to TN.

I might know a few vets for you to interview. It's sad how much of our history we lose each day. I was (and still am some of the time) involved in an oral history project for Korea and Vietnam vets. Anyways, I think we need to bump the thread back onto topic....
