Hello, my name is Steve and I just passed the national certification on Thursday. I spoke with someone about applying for an emt position at a company in Worcester, MA. I live in mass of course, but the lady asked if I had national or state certification and that's where I got confused. I pass the Nremt so I am nationally certified, and this was through an accredited school. Mass swapped over to the national certification and did away with their state testing. She said I don't have to take another test, I have to just apply for the mass cert and pay a fee. I'm confused, I thought the national was good for mass since they swapped over. Also, I tried calling oems and they are impossible to get a hold of. She gave me another number whom she said might know the process, but hasn't answered back yet. I'd like to get this process started so I can apply to find some jobs. Does anyone know how to get the Massachusetts state certification paper work started or where or who I talk to about this? Oems just doesn't answer their phone or return my voice mails. I feel frustrated as I am unable to get the answers I need to get the process started so I can apply for jobs. Does anyone here know about the Massachusetts certification process and how I can start it?

Amazing what 10 seconds of Google-Fu can do for you!

I understand if you were too busy to do so....I mean surely writing the above post had to take at least 30 seconds more than the time I spent googling your homework.

Anyways, it is all here...even a step by step process for the exact situation you are in! And you can do it online or mail/paper!! Amazing!

Your welcome. Now please do not be this lazy when seeking jobs or you will never get hired.

I did google actually, and came across numerous websites in which brought me to other websites. Only to read through it and be brought to another website or nothing related to what I was looking for. I may be new, but your sarcasm wasn't warranted, especially considering I spent 2 hours googling and another hour or so trying to call people. Maybe it was the words I googled, or maybe it's because I'm new and am trying to figure it out. Sarcasm wasn't warranted, considering I already used google and it sent me in circles and I decided to post on here figuring people already knew the process. Thanks for your assistance nonetheless.

I googled "Massachusetts EMT Certification" and voila...there it was, #1.

Sarcasm is always warranted when the world is at your fingertips. Now get to getting State certified so you can get to working using that new certification.

She said I don't have to take another test, I have to just apply for the mass cert and pay a fee.
That is your answer right there.

NREMT is a PRIVATE NON GOVERNMENT organization. They have managed to convince a majority of states (though not all) to accept theory test as the states entry test.....so once you have your National Registry you still have to use it to apply to the state you wanna work in. Not complicated at all.
