Definitely feel like him and Kevin Tighe did more for the profession, both directly and indirectly, than perhaps people who aren’t quite old enough to appreciate it are given credit for.

I got into EMS because of that show and personal experiences.

Most people don't remember or know they actually took the paramedic course so they knew what they were doing on screen.

Harbor General. Pretty crazy an actor (s...Kevin M.) playing a character on TV during an abysmal time in television leaving such a broad swath across probably every single medical specialty and sub specialty. I bet the motorcade for his funeral will be massive (if there's any decency in the world...)

The acronym on our O1A (paper) forms we used when I started off still went by HGH. I don’t remember when the affiliation became prominent.
 
Emergency! got both my dad and myself into EMS. Johnny Gage is definitely my hero, he's who I wanted to be like all through EMT school. I remember my dad picking me up from school and we'd watch it on TV Land. Right now, Emergency! is motivating me to stay in paramedic school instead of staying an EMT for life. Rest in peace, Johnny Gage. You will be missed eternally, and thank you for the inspiration. KMG-365.

Not to get off topic, but part of me wishes that Universal Studios and NBC would revive Emergency!, but another part of me knows that it'd just be a drama filled reboot with no realism at all. Even if they reuse all the same calls from the original series, but using all modern medicine, firefighting techniques, rescue techniques, etc., that'd be pretty sweet.
