is getting a mic worth it?

I use mine a lll the time.

Granted though I work in for a system status agency and we spend all our time in the trucks.

It's a lot easier to just talk into the mic on my chest then try pulling the radio out of it's harness on my belt while sitting up front in the cab

If I wasn't so lazy I would. I don't carry the radio when I should as it is. Thats what my partners are for

Run the cord behind your back it also provides some support with the weight off your belt

Second the idea that they work well for keeping the radio volume down, yet still allowing me to hear what's going on. All of our radios have them.

You talk on portables in the cab? No mobiles?

I used to wear shoulder mics during the first few weeks of my career. That ended real quick though because the coiled wire kept getting hung up in everything in the back of the rig(IV Tubing,O2 tubing ect.).

I like them and use them for a variety of reasons, one of them being otherwise I have a hard time making things out sometimes when the speakers too far away. If I clip it to the front of my shirt it helps me hear.

Yup. Some of the older rigs have mobiles anthem but they haven't been reprogrammed since we changed frequencies a year ago. The new rigs didnt even come with them
