I just read this very interesting article about an injection, primarily composed of, to put it crudely, oxygenated lipids. The injection, although still undergoing testing processes, restores the oxygen to your bloodstream to be transported throughout the body and theoretically help keep you alive an additional 15-30 minutes while in respiratory failure.

Here's the link: (Can't post links yet apparently so just add http: to the front

I was just thinking about the practical application this could have in the field. But basically, I just thought this was really interesting and wanted to talk about it.

A couple of thoughts I had were: How expensive would this be to agencies? Would it be reserved for a last resort or a commonly used thing? What kind of contraindications might we expect to see or side effects of administration? Who should be able to administer it? How would this change our current practices?

I realize it's a little early for some of this talk, but what the hell... interesting none the less.
