Hey everyone! My name is Zach and I'm 17 years old from Virginia. My dad use to be a Paramedic a long time ago and I have always been interested in the field. Well I recently joined my local rescue squad, Im a junior member until I finish school which will be about a month. I have been running several calls and I have had a couple bad calls. My question is, What am I allowed to do? I'm not certified as an EMT or EMR. I have my CPR cert and that's it. I'm always the 3rd person on board, I normally run calls with an EMT enhanced or a Basic EMT. If the EMT-B or EMT-II instruct me to do something, like dress a wound, administer O2, etc. Am I breaking any rules? I'm always supervised by an EMT and instructed by an EMT. Thanks guys and gals!

This is a question for the service director / chief / whatever. While we are a great resource we are still strangers on the interwebs. If you do something you are not supposed to , claiming it is ok because you read it online will not fly as a defence.
That said , I would hope the EMTs you work with would not as you t do something you are not supposed to do.

You stated you had first aid and CPR correct? I believe that is your scope of practice right there.
Like medic Tim said check with your chief officer or medical director. to CYA. and your partners.
I know when I have a student or a new ride along I have let them do basic things like dress wounds or apply 02 but it has to be under supervision of at least a EMT-B.
