So last November I applied and was granted reciprocity in New York State from my NREMT certification. Over the summer I checked the NYS website and saw that the certification lasted 36 months. Cool, I don't have to worry about it, right?
I looked at my card last week and realized that my card was going to expire next month! Crap! I still have my National Registry Cert active, but according to NYS I need to have taken my written and practical within the last 18 months. In order to take the NYS written and practical I need to take a semester long refresher course (I think?).
Does anyone know if I have any options? I talked to the EMS office and they were not very helpful and certainly did not seem especially knowledgable.
The one line I am getting hung up on in the "reciprocity info packet" is, to paraphrase, "THose with NREMT certificates MAY be granted a letter allowing them to take the tests". The lady at the office seemed not to know about this.
What are my options and what can I do to get my NYS card back?
