Congrats, that A.A. degree and B.S degree are 2 things that no one can EVER take away from you! You should be extremely proud of what you have accomplished.
I am now 22, and when I started my EMS career path(Firefighter/Paramedic)after graduating High School, I had no idea it would take as long as it does to get everything needed to be competitive for a good position.
I am currently finishing my 9th semester(4 & 1/2 years so far).
This is what I have completed so far in those 9 semesters:
1. A.S. Degree Fire Science(Junior College)
2. FF1 Acadmey(Junior College)
3. EMT graduate(Junior College)
4. FireFighter Reserve Program-1 year(Local Fire Department):7 months along.
5. EMT-B experience:acitve with 3 months IFT-BLS
It looks like I still have another 8 Semesters(4 years ) to go if everything goes smoothly.
I hope to get accepted into Paramedic School next semester(Spring 2012) at the California State University. This will take me 3-4 semesters(1&1/2 to 2 years), then another 4-5 semester(2 to 2&1/2 years) years to finish my bachelors degree.
Best of luck in you career, your A.A. and B.S. degrees will serve you well.
