Does anyone know about any classes or programs that will allow an I85 to test for I99? I want to move to an I99 state soon. Thanks for any information.

Not sure, but I think there are some NREMT changes coming down the pipline and you will need to bridge again from I-99 to Paramedic?

Hold off

I would strongly recommend holding off on that bridge. I believe by 2012 the curriculum is changing to 4 levels via nation wide standards.

Emergency Responder (old first responder)

Emergency Medical Technician (Basically EMT-B renamed)

Advanced Emergency Medical Technician (Between the old I-85 w/ some new skills current medics do and limited meds)

Paramedic(the entire pie)

If anything I'd say I99<National Paramedic at this point.

Either way to answer your question in Iowa it's a bit weird here and the state allows I99 to role as medics. You can find those bridge programs in this state I believe try google.

you must be enrolled in school by jan 1, 2013 (does not have to be accredited until then)

training division.com will bridge you. But after 2013, you will have to upgrade with a completer course, or be relegated to EMT-A (i believe) which will be less than the scope of practice than the EMT-I99. I believe you lose the needle crich as well as ETI, however i believe rescue airways are still available. I believe you also lose some drugs as well as cardiac monitoring (could be wrong on the monitoring)

i read the education agenda almost a year ago, so I am going off of memory. Send a private message to RidRyder911, if you cannot locate the documents from and internet search.

I-99 is going to be a waste of time, but training division will also bridge you from I-85 into their paramedic program.

But I would also, not recommend training division for anything more advanced than emt-B. The quality of their instructors is hit or miss. While i absolutely admired some of the instructors, some of them were good-old boy, piss poor fatbody favoritism instructors.

AND in our "final skills scenario" Said fatbody pointed a 45 caliber handgun at me and said BANG. I almost flew across the room and stabbed him in the throat with my pocket knife. I knew it wasn't loaded, but that was so EFFING wrong I was LIVID for weeks.

(not to mention, I knew he was hiding around the corner; however I had no option to clear my scene as safe in the scenario [and for the exercise we were not allowed to refuse to make the scene])

Yah. a real effing gun. I can't believe that guy, being a redneck country bumpkin didn't know the golden rule of firearm safety. oh... but i digress...
