Does anyone know the easiest way to measure a cat's heart rate? I know the average is 150-220, and I've been told to use the femoral artery, but its really difficult. Not an emergency or anything, just curious. My cat came home this morning with multiple minor injuries, but has been acting funny and is running a temp, so I figured I'd take his vitals (good practice for a newbie like me :P)

Place your hand or stethoscope where the heart beat is felt the strongest on the chest.

kitties!

I would practice listening to breath sounds on my old cat when I was a student!! ^_^

Kitties to people!

But of course I moved on to the poor victims of my friends and family!! :P

you might want to try a carotid pulse as well
