How do you keep fresh on your material?

I currently work for a company that is primarily IFTs and I have a feeling that I am forgetting so much that I have learned since I don't use my skills to often,and it's hard to think of things I need to freshin up on when I sit down with my book. I'm hoping someone could have suggestions of to study up.

I just finished my AEMT and I just bought Advanced Medical Life Support and Pediatric Pre-Hospital Care to read to help me continue.

I know a friend of mine that is an intermediate (hasn't challenged the AEMT yet) loves JEMS. He reads the articles relating to different subjects, labels the articles and keeps them in a filing cabinet. When he's at home and hears a tone or something comes up in conversation or on the tv, he will pull out the corresponding article and re-read it. He is incredible on his knowledge and is top notch on his patient care. I personally wouldn't do that, but I do enjoy the articles in JEMS, yes I read the articles! LOL!
