Hi everyone! I'm brand new here, I thought I would write up a small introduction, maybe someone can offer some advice! I currently go to school in Riverside, CA at the University of California Riverside. I originally went in with my major as Biology. I dropped that major after some urging of my father to go into law(Bad idea, I know.) So I switched my major to political science during my second year, and I did that for year. After that I changed my major to Anthropology(I love it!) but my true passion is medicine and the medical field. Last year I decided to start on my pre-reqs for nursing after I graduate(This summer with a BS in Anthro) and to go for nursing school. I enrolled into an EMT program last January and just graduated last week. I remember at the start of the program I was very intimidated and was nervous about my workload (I took 22 units at UCR and had a part time job at the same time).

I managed to balance my time perfectly(no social life at all, lost a couple of friends) and ended up graduating second in my class(Out of the original 101 enrolled) and managed to get one of the three letters of rec from the director of our program. I'm taking the NREMT test on Friday, and am hoping to take my ambulance DMV test next week. I'm not sure if I want to go out and apply for a field position on a rig or to apply for an ER tech position since I am interested in going into nursing...I was wondering if anyone on here worked as ER techs right out of EMT school? I'm also going to be taking an EKG class over the summer. Anyway, yeah, thanks for listening guys!

hi!! and welcome......i'm down in san diego.....i tried getting into a hospital straight out of school and i sent my resume for about 20 different positions, 4 different hospitals and didn't get one call  but it could be totally different up in riverside.......but if you have field expierence, they might be more willing to hire you.........don't know for sure, but that's what i'm thinking would have been more beneficial in my situation.........

anyhoo good luck!! the folks around here are pretty nice for the most part ;)
