I dunno if any of you remember me. I used to be on here as Spirra911(?) as I believe it was, asked for alot of advice as I was 13/14/15 then just getting started with my interest in the EMS field....

Well now, I am 17, studying for my GED, looking into training to become a Paramedic within the next year. I know I will need to start with my EMT-B

I have been looking into different types of schools, I have one that MAY be more suitable for my situation. Online schools.....

Here is where I need some help and input. What would you suggest I do along that line(s)??

You might get more replies if you give a general area that you're in.

I'd recommend going to a community college to get your certs for several reasons, chief being cost. But that's not to say that the only way to gain an education is from a college and a college only.

A lot of folks will tell you to avoid trade schools or "medic mills." With some exceptions, I think you'll get out of a class what you bring in to it. Take everything you learn with a grain of salt, and always search for the why behind the what.

I agree with going to a community college, the cost was reasonable compared to other programs in my area. Some of the companies in my area have their own training programs. Taking a program from a company you want to work for may give you a head start in landing a job.

See what the options are for your area and find out how the classes are. I know for sure here that some are better than others. Making sure you get the proper hands on training is most important in my opinion. You need the book smarts as well but a program that allows you to practice everything you need to know hands on is the best. Good luck!
