Next time you're driving down the freeway at 65+ MPH and you have power lines a mile ahead, see if you can pick out the individual lines and not just the towers. Now imagine that what is behind the lines isn't bright (i.e. seeing the lines set against the ground and not the sky). It's now a a lot easier to understand how a plane can clip power lines.

That's why they have those big red balls spaced every so many feet, when it's spanning a river or something...

I'd be willing to bet this airport will have some of these before the end of the year... =)

I've always seen those red things on power lines but never knew why they were there.. Thank you oh so much
