Hey guys. I'm doing a high school grad project and we have to write an essay on a controversial issue that relates to our topic. I would greatly appreciate it if you could give me some potential topics related to Fire or EMS services. Thanks in advance.:)

A controversial topic my service is facing is using the ResQ Pod and obtaining "informed consent" from patients.

Info

Even better - The Zoll AutoPulse... that is a controversy if there ever was one.

And some more...

- Speeding to decrease response times
- Opticoms
- ALS intercept vs. load and go
- Patient restraints
- EMT training

Hmmmmmmmm let me see if I can think of one...................

Oh Yeah................

assaults on EMS providers.

Here's one that, despite numerous hours of unified command training, no can seem to figure out: Who has command and control at MCI's; PD, FD, or EMS?

Merging fire and EMS services

Good or bad?

Education.. that always leads to numerous pages of disagreement.

oh my god! do you want to be banned from this site!! You know better than to throw a nuclear bomb like that around here.

Future EMT, I think we have a winner.... :P

I'm actually going to be writing a persuasive, research-based essay for English class this month. I'm thinking about taking on the AutoPulse debate.

I didn't know there was a debate. Me and everyone I know love the damn thing.

You are joking, right?

Did you catch the dueling articals in JAMA a few months back?

ROF!! So what is wrong with merging EMS and fire service??? It's the norm here (California) :)

Or if it is Hazmat. Or the patient needs to be extricated from a vehicle.

Or if it is a REALLY nasty DOA.

Or crowd control is needed (it's a wonder what a charged line will do to a crowd that won't move.)

As far as being a high school paper, how about AED's for public use. Supermarkets, malls, or schools etc....what are the repercussions? Is it appropriate? Would it make a difference? What training is provided???
