Yesterday...what a shift...
On my way to work, didn't even make it there...
Not even 6 cars ahead of me.
MCI - Vehicles traveling westbound collided, ended up in eastbound (the lane I was in) lanes. Dammit, if only they'd have stayed on their side of the road, I could have pretended not to see....Okay...J/K. In front of me were 2 S.O. deputies on their way in to work. Stop, block the road immediatley. Behind me are FF from 4 area departments. S.O. looks at all of us and says "Stay back" EMS is on their way. IM IN UNIFORM! The FF are IN UNIFORM!! We're like, WTF! He says stay back or he'll place us in custody. WHAT!! So were on the phone with dispatch telling them we can see AT LEAST 3 ejections but SO won't let us through to assess. About 10 seconds later the other deputy on scene walks up to him, says a few angry words and suddenly were allowed to pass the S.O. nazi and start assessing.. 4 ejections, 1 entrapped, 1 fat lip. Called 3 trauma alerts, launched 2 helicopters and had an additional FD engine on the way. EMS was 15 minutes away. Fly 3. 2 by ground. 1 Patient refusal.
Psych patient. Funny as all get out. Transport 1.
Stroke Alert. Transport 1.
Cardiac Alert. Transport 1.
MVA - BLS w/knee pain, hx of surgery on the same knee 3 days prior. 100 yards from the parking lot of the ER. Transport 1.
MVA - driver of other car from previous MVA. Seems as though after leaving that other one, she traveled a mile or so and hit an apartment complex that jumped out into the road in front of her. Head injury. Unconscious. Fly 1.
Psych Transfer. Patient from before.
Allergic Rx.
Allergic Rx.
Allergic Rx. apparently the jelly fish are REALLY BAD right now. And I'm not allowed to dish out the "Just Pee on it" cure.
Trauma Injury. Twisted knee while playing volleyball in the sand. Walked to our ambulance as we pulled up. Climbed in unassisted. Got to ER. Climbed out unassisted. Sent to triage before even getting through the doors.
MCI. Single vehicle accident. 7 occupants. Hit a concrete pole.
3 adult trauma alerts. 2 w/ head injuries, 1 w/ multisystems trauma. 1 w/ open Tib/Fib, 1 w/ obvious Femur, 1 w/both.
1 pediatric trauma alert, head injury.
1 F, 29 1/2 weeks pregnant with twins having steady contractions and vaginal bleeding.
And 3 with minor. Flew 4, transport 3.
And the shift before last (on Thursday) I had commented to one of our FF about not having to work and MCI recently. I think Im good now.
