Well, I had a job interview w/ cape Cod Ambulance! I'm going back in next week to take their written test, then do the agility test. Anyone have any suggestions for either?

Pay is $11.25, ft,for wheelchair and then move up to ambulance (+.50$) if/when they have openings. its a start...

$8hr. But i think wages for EMT jobs are going up or I'm just getting good stuff. I just got quoted at just shy of 12 at an interview I had today.

I wonder if it is going up.. I had the same thing happen yesterday, 12/hr. Too bad the posistion is part time.

anyways, to keep the convo on track. Go over your emt stuff, average baseline v.s., ob, CPR, acronyms, ect are all big on the pre-employment tests.

The interview I had yesterday had me run a full code by myself until ROSC, then backboard and load with a partner. Suction, airways, ect are all usually on the skills portion of the pre-employment tests.

Congratulations! I've never interviewed with them so I don't know the specifics, but I'd imagine that if you studied like you did for the state written you should be fine. Also, it wouldn't be a bad idea to download the MA treatment protocols from the OEMS site to start familiarizing yourself with them.

ok, study, go!

In MA its $8 but idk what avg for emt-b's is. Its more than I make now doing something I hate.
As of tomorrow I will study my *** off. I had to go to RI to get some paperwork from DMV (still have ri license until I move again then getting MA but emt license is ma)., so didn't get any done today. Oi, nerves!!

Thnx guys!

Just a heads up, use that little censored icon or '***" instead of dropping the real thing here. We'll all get what you mean, the mods don't like that kind of stuff.

re IRIDEZ

A full code? Oi. FOr paramedic (i hope)? I dont even know what ROSC is!

ah-hah! Thanks! That makes sense...just another acronym I wasn't taught.

OMG, I'm @ work, trying not to freak out. haha. Study...study....study. Where to start is always the hard part! There's SO much info on here though, thankfully.

Nope, this was a basic test. Like "heres a pt coding, no pulse no breathing do what you can... go" CPR, Airways, suction, defib, ect. No ALS available closest hospital is 5 minutes away. Simple stuff but some people have a hard time doing it right.

Um, yea... look up acronyms! Those are big on the tests, APGAR, PENMAN, SAMPLE, OPQRST, DCAPBTLS,TIC, AEIOU TIPS, Ect.
And look over OB, Im not sure why but I've run into alot of that on these tests.

ohhh ok. That makes sense, since they do it on state tests.

I know a lot of the acronymns, such as Apgar, sample, opqrst, rnchamps (MA shock), dcapbtls, perrl, avpu..just never saw that one.

i noticed OB was on the state test-a lot of questions! A lot of random questions too- triage...how much space does a helicopter need to land, whats the air speed velocity of a laden swallow..not that one of course ;)

oi, nerves!!

shock

i shoulda said rnchamps is the OLD style, not MA, whereas MA just teaches us 5-hypovolemia, cardiogenic, obstructive, distributive, respiratory
