Odds are this was a problem child going way back...command staff was prolly just looking for a reason to can him and he delivered. Money on the union letting this go without comment....

He is a White Shirt too! Oofah....

I had to check local news stories for more info to confirm. But yes, he is a lieutenant. His comments were directed to a female Firefighter/Engineer.

As of last week, he has demanded reinstatement as his comments are not in full context (his claim). This may hold true, as we do not know what was stated before or after this exchange, nor do we know if this was some sort of running joke.

I am not defending the man for his words, especially on scene. However, I do agree there needs to be far more context brought to this.

Hegseth says this is ok for our military, so I am sure it extends by proxy to all paramilitary organizations. :)

Now you're getting political, but I'll bite... Where did he ever say that about the military? I must have missed it where he said women shouldn't vote... sounds like your making an assumption based on no evidence, or you are making a baseless smear, one that has been clearly corrected by the pentagon in https://www.cnn.com/2025/08/15/politics/pentagon-hegseth-womens-right-to-vote, and has been completely debunked by the news factcheckers :) https://www.10news.com/news/fact-or...th-believes-women-shouldnt-have-right-to-vote

I know you are smart enough to recognize hyperbole and also know it is a short slippery slope from his current position as stated by himself in the Ted Talk he delivered to the Generals and at our expense.

Additionally, it was not the right to vote comment....it was all the dialogue he gave about "no more careers being tanked by complaints, no more anonymous complaints, no more repeated complaints, and feel free to get more handsy with recruits with no fear of retribution" (some paraphrased). No more Woke, no more butt hurt, LOL. He is a laughing stock fool, however the crap he spewed is gonna set us back decades So my comment was in that spirit.

I heard the talk... it was much needed, as it is designed to refocus the military, and bring it back to peak performance, not the joke it has become over the past 4 years...

I love how you paraphrase what he said, which implies he said "feel free to get more handsy with recruits with no fear of retribution" instead of actually saying what he said: "Yes, they can shark attack. They can toss bunks. They can swear and yes, they can put their hands on recruits,” Hegseth said. “This does not mean they can be reckless or violate the law, but they can use tried and true methods to motivate new recruits to make them warriors.” And your implication that his ending anonymous complaints means he's supporting both sexual harassment and racism, because he very clearly said “Of course, being a racist has been illegal in our formations since 1948. The same goes for sexual harassment. Both are wrong and illegal" Again, your paraphrasing is ignoring critically important information that he clearly said.

No more woke nonsense, no more laughing stock from the last 4 years... the political direction during the previous administration resulted in a significantly weaker military, as the focus was changed being a strong military to being a woke military that no other country feared. Thankfully that time is over: standards are being applied equally to every member of the military, regardless of gender, and more more woke nonsense. The military is being lead by a ~20 year military combat veteran with multiple awards, who is ensuring the physical fitness standards apply the same to the privates as it applies to the 4 star generals. The military had deviated from it's core mission; most Americans are supportive of it getting back on track, and working on making it's way back to the most feared and respected military in the world.

Okay, this little tangent has gone on long enough. Back on topic please.

ok, back to the topic at hand...

The comment is stupid. It's inappropriate. It shouldn't have been said. I'm curious what the discussion involved beforehand this clip, as it seems like there was a lot more to this story, and is missing a lot of context. It's a very weird random statement to make on a medical call... It sounds like the patient's daughter felt like she wasn't being listened to with the proper amount of respect, and this was her way of ensuring her complaint resulted in some action being taken.

Again, not defending the inappropriate comment, but is termination an overreaction? Maybe he had other complaints, maybe this was the final straw, but in an isolated setting (spotless career, and he was an officer who supervised others), I don't think taking away his livelihood was an appropriate response.

And the union should fight for his job, because it's their job; that's why he has paid union dues his entire career, especially if the disciplinary action is not in line with the department's rules and the union's CBA.
