After nearly 4 years with my service as an attendant I will finally be taking my EMR course in Jan 2012. Until now my duties have been to assist the EMRs and EMTs with lifting and pt care. I just got my books today so I am going to read the book cover to cover and then repeat. My training so far as been
Health Care Provider CPR from the heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada
Neonatel Resuscitation
Standard First Aid and CPR C from St John's Ambulance.

I can't wait to take and pass this course so I could be able to do more in pt care.

EMT is what a PCP in Alberta is called. Currently the Northwest Territories where I reside has no legislation at all regarding EMS. My service uses the designations of the Alberta College of Paramedics. Three of our members are registered with ACoP. Our services covers a small portion of Alberta which is why we use ACoP designations and are trying to get registered with ACoP.
