Recently that when you have an injury you should not cover the unaffected Eye
any longer....does anyone know why this is (physiology or research on this)
Thanks

typically you covered both eyes because they work in unision, and if one was damaged, you covered the uninjured one because otherwise the injured one would move and try to look at whereever the uninjured one was looking. you can pirate patch them, which would stop the injured eye from seeing anything, but everytime the good eye moved, the eye muscles would try to move the injured eye too.

please cite where you found this, or at least eleborate what state wants this done. it is news to me.

Can't provide a source on short notice, but I've been taught that you still cover both, but put a small pinhole to let in a bit of light in the patch over the good eye. The rational is that in a totally dark environment the eyes constantly shift in an attempt to find some source of light; this obviously would negate the rationale for covering both eyes to stop all coordinated movement. Adding a pinhole for the good eye should provide enough light to allow the eye to 'rest' and prevent - or at least greatly reduce - unnecessary movement.

Reply to eye injury (covering eye)

Recent UCLA paramedic update (and one of the most esteemed speakers) dr Baxter Larmon, as well as recent aha bls instructor update. Ill reach out to both for rationale, but I like wat was said about a dark eye looking for light

Thanks for comments guys
