Hello everyone this is my first officially post im new but I have a couple questions maybe aomeone form miami can help me and thanks in advance......i apply for the ems program in broward community college I got accepted for the next semester which is in 4 months from now i want to get a A.S IN EMS But i really dont want to take four months off of school so my advisor to look into pwtte school and take emt

Sorry I didn't finish he told me to look into private school and take the emt and after go to broward and they would give me credit for it even tho is not a college credit school corriculum I was looking into American medical academy any thoughts and review from does anyone attend this school im just looking to the emt there here is the website amaedu.com
 
Hi, I attended AMA and was pleased with their EMT program. I really felt that I got a lot out of it and that the instructors were top notch. They are indeed a private school - they were just accredited by ABHES - so take what you will from that. I can only speak from personal experience and my experience was positive. Out of the 10 students in my class (myself included) the 4 who have taken the NREMT have all passed at 70 questions, and I'm confident that the rest will pass too.

The work and tests in class were much more difficult and thought provoking than the NREMT, we did lots of scenarios in their lab and we learned to really think outside of the box. Make sure if you attend that you all work as a team and study hard and you will succeed. As far as their Paramedic and A.S. degree offering........I'm not sure. The A.S. degree should be obtained through a school that is definitely reputable like Broward or Miami Dade College, when you're spending that much money you want to be sure that it will be accepted.
 
Thank You so much for taking the time to answer my question I really appreciate it,I was just thinking on taking the emt there the place is nice and when I went for the tour everyone was so nice and friendly so I thought it would be good for the emt and after go to broward colleger for the A.S or if my wife decide to go to school in Orlando ill go to Valencia college im aware that the this is school is only acrditated by ABHES thats why I want to take my medic from another place that is acreditated by coaems im not pretty sure if it make a different but I want to get my associate from a reputable school.

I agree with you and I think your plans are a good way to go. I'm planning on Miami Dade for my medic and A.S. - Good luck! You won't regret doing your EMT there!
 
If money is no object. Then go to private. You will pay 3-4 times what BCC will charge, for same exact education.

Definitely go to a CC for your medic.
 
With the tuition increases at Miami Dade, it costs roughly the same to do the EMT and Medics there as it would at AMA after you add up all the lab fees, uniforms and books that they require.
