Hey all, I am looking to take an EMT-B course in the Grand Rapids area. I have heard of two schools, one being EMS Life and Great Lakes EMS Academy.

The schools around here do not offer EMS/EMT training as far as I know.

Has anyone heard anything on these two courses? I know Great Lakes EMS Academy charges 1600$ - which from what I have heard is a little steep compared to other areas classes.

Thanks much!

it seems the EMS Great Lakes Academy is #2 in the state for EMS Education, I have heard alot of good things about it..it is where alot of the fire departments and other such places send their recruits to get their certification around here.

AMR Grand Rapids also recommends them..

but according to Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs...

It is an unaccredited school. Which if I hear right the NREMT is going to require by the end of 2012 that you have attended an accredited school.

Thats nothing to worry about for the EMT-B, but by the time I finish EMT-P It will be past 2010.

The closest actual school for EMS is in Lansing and that's too far for me to drive. I actually live right next to the EMS Great Lakes Academy. So at this moment I am stumped. Do I take my EMT-B there and then just take my EMT-P somewhere else?
