Im currently an EMT-B and only the written away from being an intermediate. I'm also a pre-med student and need to work and have a backup plan in case school cannot(for whatever many possible reasons - financial, injury, family, etc.) I'm considering paramedic and for scheduling reasons I think the online classes would be great. Also considering that I did both basic and intermediate online I know the challenges that were involved with that. I've spoken to a lot of my co-workers and I know I wasn't thrilled about having to teach myself but locally I haven't got the most confidence that the programs would be as up to par as I'm looking for.
Has anyone taken the online program and has strong opinions? How serious were they, how organized? Was the on campus experience more about lecture and learning or was it basically geared on just how to pass the exams? I need some thoughts on what people thought about one versus the other considering what I stated above about schedule(completing premed classes in parallel) and how good the program was. My online programs, while I got what I need out of it, there just was a sense that it was new, there weren't clear objectives and I didn't know what to expect but it didn't feel like I got everything I wanted. I am very serious about education in this field and I don't like the feeling that some instructors dumb down material or don't have goals and objectives and a good curriculum going in. It's a new concept, that's understandable, but I don't want to waste my money.
