Just curious if anyone has any insight or currently works in the Las Vegas system that I could ask some questions too.

CA EMT who just finished my medic internship and just have to take my registry.

Been looking to move to las vegas as a new medic for experience (And lower COL lol).

I’m aware of AMR/MEDICWEST and Community ambulance as i actually talked to the CES specialist at AMR there for a project in medic school.

I’m currently trying to figure out whats the better option in terms of experience and pay. I know that community now holds the strip, but I currently work for AMR and thought it might be easier to do an internal transfer instead of jumping companies.

Any insight is much appreciated!

If both companies are currently hiring, which they both probably are, then it’s not going to make a huge difference. You are still going to have to go to an orientation and complete field training time. The only benefit to staying with AMR is that you may be able to hold onto your seniority.

I’m most trying to find out concrete information from current or past employees on pay, incentives, and relation with management.

Community ambulance has a salary listing, but AMR doesn't. Trying to figure out which one pays better or has better incentives for OT.

Community also advertises a 3 day work week while i’d guess amr is the typical 3/4 days a week rotation that I believe most AMR operations do.

Also trying to get information on their CCT medic program as it’s hard to find information on it.

Wish that was true, can’t even see what the “pay scale” at the operation I work for is. No idea where my pay rate comes from. When I ask, no one knows either, call payroll they say.

That information is not available. As Tigger said, no one really knows. I have worked for AMR for 12 years and I have no clue what our pay scale is let alone other divisions. I also have no information about other divisions operations nor does my direct supervisor or their direct supervisor. So the only way to find out any info would be to call that specific division and maybe they will give you some information.

At one point people were transferring in with like a year of experience and making more than me, now I make more than like 90% of the operation.

I think the lesson here is maybe don’t tell someone how AMR works when you don’t work there. We don’t even know.

The only ones that are able to is the union shops where their pay scales are specifically laid out in their paperwork. For the non-union shops, it’s not easy to find out. All I know is that I was hired as a Paramedic-Basic step 42. The only people who know how the pay rate relates to the steps don’t usually release that information if someone just asks or it.

They can inform me about my wage and what a starting wage is. But no one knows why the wages are what they are.

Not sure why I argue, I work there. As far as I can tell based on your posts you are not a practicing EMS provider. If you have knowledge to lend, do so. Otherwise stop telling people to look it up or call. That’s not what this forum is for.
