So I just got all my EMT stuff done and I am looking for jobs. I met a guy today through a friend who is a supervisor with Balboa here in San Diego. He said he would give me a job with them as an EMT. I was wondering if anyone out there knows if they are a good company to work for. I am really only looking for a years experience for med school.

Yes. They are a well run company and good for the year you need. You could do a lot worse!
 
yeah, as Dandy said, you could do worse. A job is a job so jump on it if you get the chance.
 
Thank you guys. Next question is. I have a connection with Rural Metro here in San Diego. I know they just did a hiring in May for EMT and she said they would do another one here in July or August. Should I wait to see what happens with that or take the one with Balboa then transfer to Rural Metro if they offer me a job? Also do you know if that is easy to do?

It wouldn't be a transfer. You would quit and then get hired with R/M
 
So do you think I should take the job with Balboa then if I get a job with Rm take the RM job?
 
Don't pass up a for sure job to wait for Rural, but if Rural opens up jump on it.
 
dude, im being 100% serious here. CA sucks for emt jobs. if you have a for sure thing jump on it. Like yesterday. waiting around gets you nowhere and who knows if the person you know will still be in a position to offer you a job
