Well yesterday I had a panel interview for the local county EMS auxiliary program. Does anyone here have any experiences with an auxiliary EMS program? What all did yours include? I probably should have asked some more questions as I am not sure what to expect.

I hear back in a week though to see whether I get in or not!

Is that like a city third service system? Or private? Never heard the term auxiliary used for an EMS system...

Its not a private thing, its a volunteer service run by the county run EMS system in my town

Well an update on this, I am in as long as I pass my drug test in the morning :D

Congrats.

Volunteer agencies seldom can afford to turn prospective members away...

In my 6 years volunteering we just turned down someone for the first time since I have been there. I am pretty sure he was a serial killer.

Really? I've seen my first service (volunteer) turn away multiple people. Who should have been turned away. When I was in the interview board I was part of the turning away process.

OP, congrats! Do well and keep on learning!

Thanks guys :) now just gotta figure out where to get some price friendly BDU pants, lol

Amazon, look for Pantac.

$30 a pair great pants.

An update: I made it through the interview and passed a drug test and made it into the service! I have an EVOC class in a week and a blood borne pathogens class two days after that.

I am beyond excited
