Yes, you are their EMT/Paramedic. But you're both human too. Show a little humanity/compassion. Show them that there are good people out there who do care about them and that they have other options. Just make a connection with them

I agree that you shouldn't play therapist. You aren't trained for that.

We never truly know how far a little kindness can go.
