I can't see how I would treat it differently than any other patient with abdominal pain.

As a Basic, the diagnosis really isn't my concern (with a few exceptions, i.e. a suspected AAA). My main priority is to stabilize and transport, and not to cause any more harm in doing so.

Pretty straightforward - Acute Abd

Supplemental O2 if needed
IV access
Blood draw
NS TKO
Diesel prn

Position of comfort, but that's generally an easy task since the patient will usually self-position themselves to reduce their discomfort. They are generally going to draw their knees up to reduce tension on the abdomen, and (absent trauma) there's no reason not to let them. Have a bio-bag at the ready, because they're generally gonna deposit whatever's in their stomach on your boots as soon as you start moving.

Do not allow the patient to eat or drink anything, the problem with an acute abdomen it can be just about anything, and the worst case scenerio the patient might require surgery. Important question is "when did you eat and drink last and how much?"
