SAN CARLOS, Ariz. - A medical helicopter has crashed on the San Carlos Indian reservation, the Bureau of Indian Affairs confirms.

FAA spokesperson Ian Gregor says the pilot lost control while trying to land in San Carlos, Ariz. around 7:30 p.m.

BIA Spokesperson Warren Youngman says two people were aboard the helicopter. They were both transported to a hospital with serious injuries.

There was not a patient on-board, as Wednesday's flight was a training flight. It had departed from Williams Gateway Airport.

The San Carlos Apache Reservation is along U.S. 70 between Globe and Safford, in Gila County.

Let's hope the crew survives. They will be in my prayers tonight.

And then there were two "non-crash crashes" in the past few days: a bird strike in Iowa and a helicopter in Iowa struck powerlines while lifting off from a scene. Let's hope this streak of non-fatal crashes stays non-fatal. I'm sick of burying friends and colleagues.
