Just curious...what was your 1st paid EMS job? and at what age did you start?
for myself after 4 years of vol. EMS I actually just got my 1st paid job as an EMT at the Six Flags Great Escape here in NYS

(used the search function and couldn't find anything with this type of title, sorry if I missed it)

I'm working on getting my first paid EMS job at the moment :P I'm 27.

Aaron

I was 37.

I came to EMS late in life after a career change.

38, but I'd been a vollie for 6 years before that

Will be 19 here :)

3 more months then will be working for a paid service. I have been volunteering since I was 17.

I'll be 19 in a few weeks but have yet to get a job... It's really competitive here in Phoenix but I'll keep trying...

The secret was to look in places other than your typical 911 systems. Being under 21, most, if not all services won't hire you. So, I am now working for a local large amusement park that sees 5,000 pts. a year.

I think I was 20. Worked as an EMT for about 2 years before getting my medic.

yup, same for me, I'm working for a large amusement park that on an average day has 12,000 people through it

My first paid job, I was 20 and I am still here today. I will admit though that there was alot of opposition because all my training was military so I technically didn't "qualify". Hoped I proved them all wrong by now.

First paid job was as an emt-security guard(nt really ems) right after emt class ended. Then 4 weeks later quit for an ambulance job(PMT ambulance, not really ems either, mostly inerfacility.) Then started the academy for my curent dept. and started as a reserve firefighter/emt working pretty much full-time 8-12 24's a month right after graduation. Then 3 months later was promoted to full-time status.

This was between 25-26 yrs old when i made my career change. 18 months from emt basic to full-time ff/emt.

Started volunteering at 17, 1st paid job was in the U.S. Air Force at 20 (flight medic). Been doing it ever since........................

Not to stray off topic but how was the airforce? I've been considering it but am real hesitant...
