Wow I had forgotten about this site until I got the email about a reply to a post of mine. I put my efforts back to working in a hospital since that post (actually Nov. 2010). I was p/t at the hosp back when I posted that. I have Phlebotomy and my CNA also and I am finishing up my PRE-REQs for...
I am from Long Island (Suffolk County) and the police there make over 100k due to the cost of living. That has been on the internet for years because people always complain. Start is about 57k and caps off after so many years at about 97 if I remember correctly but don't quote me. Anyway its on...
I don't know the breakdown of the pay (ie overtime, medical insurance, etc). If anyone finds it, please put a link here. BTW that was a quick response JP. Did you already read this article earlier?
For those not from the area, Oak Brook is a very upper class suburb of Chicago and is an area with rich people and very large homes in gated communities. They also have alot of BIG corporations headquartered there. This man has been in the news for years out here. He is the real life Scrooge...
My girlfriend is looking to apply to a private company. My company does not hire significant others so she has begun the search for the right company for her. We are working out the issues of driving versus public transportation and looking at various companies (near and far from home) but I...
Has anyone renently taken a NY State EMT-B refresher course? I had reciprocity in NY but it has lapsed and I am interested in flying out to renew it. Any info at all would be greatly appreciated.
Also, any info regarding companies. I am from West Islip NY and would like to move back one day...
Private pay in the Chicago area varies alot. I make more in the city of Chicago as a B than friends of mine that are medics in the suburbs. A buddy of mine works at one in the north suburbs and makes 10.50 as a shift medic. I make more than that as a basic by a few dollars. Here's why as he...
I can relate to a bit of it I think. When my grandmother went into a nursing home back in 02, the greedy siblings of mine decided to contest her will which left things to me. She was alive and doing well and the fight began. Shortly after that, my dad was on LS with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis...
In the past 5 years I have lost my mother, father, and grandmother (and I had the LS scenario, and I was the POA as well). Nobody ever knows exactly what someone else is going through so I won't insult you and say I know how you feel because I do not, but I may have an idea. My thoughts are with...
I love it. Maybe your aunt will finance this and be our silent partner. We won't even need to transport. We can just park the mobile ER outside the NH and treat and release.
ok, I will prepare. Since I have phlebotomy experience, I would like to mount a centrifuge in the ambulance so I may draw labs and spin tubes while en-route. I am thinking of maybe also an x-ray machine. Let's just use a semi and have a rolling lab also. I will let Travis drive and when I need...
Hmmmmm, when are you going to have your MD bstone? Travis is one semester from his RN. Look at that, we are on our way to a new company. We can add one more to the long list of existing ones. You can be the Medical Control. Then we can steal accounts too, lol.
Well bstone you and I know how this city and particular system work and we know it is not going to change any time soon. Again it's all money so there won't be a huge increase in additional ambulances being purchased and there will not be a huge number of additional medics getting hired anytime...
