Some of the responses on this thread are the reason why I would never feel comfortable posting up anything that I do on the job.
There is really no need to bash someone for doing the best job that they can do in the situation to try and help a Pt.
Well, had my first code last night. FD rescue was on scene by the time we got there and had initiated CPR. I took over compressions and a firefighter EMT was bagging. Medic tubed her and pushed 3 rounds of drugs, but according to the family the Pt was last seen alive about an hour ago so down...
One of my first calls:
Dispatch: -- y/o unconscious female, suicide attempt
Driver: Is the scene safe?
Dispatch: ....She's unconscious, I don't think she poses much of a threat.
I am a pretty fresh EMT-B in PA. I just finished my orientation training, and will be crew chief on my next shift. I am pretty confident about it... But I am nervous about getting a code; especially since we have a nursing home in our district that we get calls to almost daily.
I apologize for any questions that may have already been answered, but I certainly do not feel like reading through all 11 pages of this thread.
I just made my profile on the National Registration site. Is there a class I must take in order to take my NR test? I am a certified EMT-b...
