    LinkedIn

I actively use it for my corporate (non-EMS) life. I can't really say if it helps anyone to advance professionally but it's great for getting back in touch with friends you may have lost touch with. Interstingly (or is that sadly) it's also a great way to stay in touch with former coworkers...

    FDNY blizzard responses

FDNY Command thinks Vollies are useless... because they forget that they call during blizzards, MCIs, NYC Marathon and horrific events like 9/11.

    NYC road conditions HELP!!!!

I just drove through Oakland Gardens. The plows finally came through the smaller streets like Kingsbury... good luck finding on-street parking.

    Content in email notification

Another option could be to modify the reply-to address from "moderators@..." to "noreply@..." You can setup an email account called "noreply@..." and never check it. Or let it simply bounce back. You'll never see those replies again. Rob

Stupid things you did on your first few calls

We were standing outside of our truck shooting the breeze with another unit. A call came in. We jumped in and sped away. It was a great feeling when I found my large cup of coffee waiting for me on the step. I was sure I lost it.

Top 10 reasons why I became an EMT.

Wish I could manage that. The best I've done was get a free stale donut 1/2 hour before closing.

what should I wear to an interview for a vollie....?

Interview: Dress Shirt, dark slacks, dress shoes. Orientation: Polo Shirt/Jeans/Tech Pants (Leave the scope/shears etc at home) Ride along: They must tell you what you are expected to wear (like a dress code) to keep you from embarrassing the corps and keeping you safe (no flip flops). I...

    "Call 911" - FDNY Paramedics

"Brain attack" sounds much cooler than "stroke" and rhymes easier than "Cerebral Vascular Accident" </sarcasm>

    smoking in the ambulance:

Agreed. Pick any other NYC volunteer corp. I'll bet anything that they don't allow smoking, vulgarity and playing with the radio or PA. Although I don't know which corps you belong to. I can also bet that your neighboring volunteer corps know about the problems at your corp. You probably won't...

    volunteer rescue groups

The above is true not with all volleys. As an active NYC volunteer, I know that my organization only covers events that we are invited to. If another organization (FDNY, Hospital, Private or Volley) needs backup, we officially participate in the Mutual Aid Response System (MARS). Agreed...

How do you carry your gear?

Oooh, I like that idea. It seems "cooler" than the Junior Paramedic Shields (stickers) that the kids seem to like.

I beleive Hatzolah should be disbanded.

I sense a little jealousy. If you're interested, you don't have to be a member of Hatzolah to get VAS plates. http://www.nydmv.state.ny.us/emerg.htm

    More Casual Looking Emt Pants/Shoes?

If you insist, try ****ies Dark Navy work pants. They're the same style and color as their EMT pants without the cargo pockets. I wear them when on standby at community events. Since there's 2 bags full of supplies within a few feet of me, there's no need to carry anything but gloves (in a belt...

    New York Ambulance License?

As firecoins said "New York driver's license". A regular "Class D" license will do.

    EMT pay

There's nothing wrong with betting on 00. The odds are 1/38 just like any other individual number. It also pays 35 to 1 just like any other individual number. In Atlantic City, even money bets (like black/red or odd/even) have a slight advantange over other locales because half the bet is...

Do you need a driver's license to become an EMT-B in NYC??

Becoming an unemployed EMT-B.... No need for a license Employed as an EMT-B.... It will be very difficult. Volunteering as an EMT-B until you get your license.... Definately OK as many volunteers are just "drivers" and not EMTs.

New Grill Lights on 2006 Dodge Ram 1500

Unfortunately they (plural) are not legal in New York State. You are allowed one blue light and I doubt you'll only have one. However enforcement of the law varies. http://www.safeny.com/bluelite.htm
