    Dispatching as an EMT

Hello all, Recently acquired a position at my local EMS company. Was working roughly 40 miles away due to the fact that my local company nicotine tested Job applicants and I knew I'd never pass, but I have a since quit because driving 40 miles a day to work and 40 miles back isn't financially...

    Fire Science

I really wouldn't want to leave my area at this moment. I was just curious if fire science would be beneficial to my EMT/Paramedic career, and if it would be in my best interest to take it while I take my Paramedic class. Thoughts?

    Fire Science

Quick Question, my local Community College offers a Fire Science degree with an EMS concentration, but it appears that all the EMS concentration is, is a EMT basic class. I already have my basic. Would it be beneficial to take a fire science course if I don't plan on working as a fire fighter? I...

What would you recommend getting a degree in? Some people have told me nursing but I feel like they're too different of careers. What majors would help me in my EMS career?

    Duty to Act Info

So I'm sure this is probably a stupid question, but I live in Michigan, so even though I'm not obligated to act while off duty, would I get reprimanded for acting off duty? Is it a bad idea to assist if I'm not obligated, could this cause legal troubles against me?

    Ride alongs before EMT-B.

They have a few BLS trucks and a few ALS trucks at each campus. I'm not sure if my ride along is an ALS truck or a BLS truck but I'm going to assume we'll be on a BLS truck.

    Ride alongs before EMT-B.

The ambulance service is run out of the hospital, and is owned by the hospital. It has two outposts on each sides of the city (hospital in the middle). I'm going to be at the "east campus" as they say, even though its just a building with a garage and few trucks.

    Ride alongs before EMT-B.

I have the opportunity to take a few ride alongs with my cousin before our EMT-B class. I'm very excited, and many of them are going to be 12 hour shifts, so I'll have a basic experience of what they go through, from station life, to emergency response, and everything in between. My purpose...

Oakland CC or Mott CC? (MI)

I am currently taking an EMT-B course at my local McLaren branch in Michigan during my senior year. After I graduate I intend to work as an EMT-B and go to school for my Paramedic Cert. Delta College, right in my area, is the only community college without an Emergency Medical program (they...

    Starting EMT-B, thoughts?

Starting EMT-B soon I will be starting my EMT-B in January at my local hospital. I live in a rural town in Mid-Michigan. None of the hospitals around or private services are hiring. The closest place hiring is Saginaw County, which if anyone knows is just 2nd to Flint, MI in terms of shootings...
