Did you get a chance to see these two studies? (One is pandemic flu though.)

I usually try to avoid posting material from a specific manufacturer, but this video might be an interesting one for you to as it attempted to explain away the 3-stacked shock model of previous guidelines.

My two cents, after having attended a formal moulage training class...
- I believe that moulage is useful to "stress" new providers (e.g. EMT students, CERT, etc.) to have them translate some of their book knowledge into visual identification, in addition to creating an increase in...

Notice that at the end of the pre-ganglionic fiber (CNS --> ganglion), acetylcholine is used as the neurotransmitter. However, in the post ganglion fiber (Ganglion --> target cell) this is where the differences between the two parts of the...
I was pretty disappointed by VPE. To me, it was basically a "point and click" game that didn't give you any feedback. There is no point to have the program unless you debrief the scenario with an instructor afterwards or in the class. (Not sure if all programs have the time for this...)...
I completely understand that, but unfortunately our state's laws (Title 22) will be still be amended to reflect specific course hours. We will not be given a range of hours, as suggested by the NES.
Hey everyone,
I've been on an interesting journey trying to find out the new required hours for California EMTs to meeting the 2012 implementation of the National Education Standards. Essentially, the bottom line is that no one - even at the State level - knows exactly what the requirement...
Update on the transition from AMR to Rural/Metro posted on the County website yesterday:

Your doc fills out the DL51 and the DL51A (the green wallet-sized card). You keep the green card on your person and you hand in the DL51 form to the DMV.
Most primary care docs I've met have no idea how to fill out the DL51 form. I had to go back to my doc after he forgot to tick the ONE...
Are your LP 500 AEDs already Guidelines 2005 updated? There are no changes between Guidelines 2005 and 2010 for the Lifepak 500.
If for some reason your AEDs are still Guidelines 2000 (i.e. 3 stacked shocks, 1 minute CPR interval), as long as you have a Biphasic Lifepak 500, you can still...
Matt,
California regulations (Title 22) permit US licensed Physicians, Registered
Nurses, Physician Assistants, Vocational Nurses, or Licensed Practical Nurses to challenge the EMT curriculum to get their EMT cert. All approved EMT training programs are supposed to have a challenge program...
I was pretty active in the Red Cross for a while, and I have to say when I first started, I thought ARC volunteers did medical work. However, in reality, it's pretty rare to have that type of deployment (and even if you do, it's a pretty limited scope of practice).
During a national disaster...
Hi everyone,
In case you were curious when NREMT will be adopting AHA Guidelines 2010 for their exams, it will be:
- Nov 1st 2011 (Paramedic)
- Jan 1st 2012 (EMT)
Importantly, remember that C-A-B is only for cardiac arrest...NREMT will expect medical/trauma assessments to continue to...
Just to give you a state regulation reference...the four levels ("EMR", EMT, AEMT and Paramedic) are regulated by Title 22 regulations.
There is a minimum first aid training standard for public safety personnel (non-EMT Firefighter, Peace Officer/LEO, state/city Lifeguard) under Title 22...
For the premed, I think it's sometimes hard to read advice that is "the cold hard truth" but USAFmedic45 really speaks on the truth on the topic.
What "military medicine" is can be tough to understand for the person looking in. Most of us just get ideas from watching Wade in Saving Private...
That is certainly true, but a decent number of premeds these days take a few years off before applying. You could go to medic school and work a bit, then apply. Motivations to go to paramedic school vary considerably, but it sounds like the thread-starter does have a genuine interest in EMS, so...
