That is what I said, I personally do not treat this exact particular condition in my practice I have decided after doing this for a long time and gaining some extra education that I don't feel as though it is necessary. That being said I would not fault someone if they wanted to do so. I was...
This is the book it is in, I looked tried to access it from the internet but haven't figured out how as of yet.
You are right decreasing the respiratory should prevent a worsening alkolosis..... IF something else doesn't help it along. This is where I was going with the versed issue. It has...
You are right the spasms are uncomfortable, but none the less hyperventilation and carpopedal spasms have never killed anyone that I have ever seen in the literature. They will and do go away on their own, just as hyperventilation does. For me giving medication for this is like saying that no...
it has absolutely nothing to do with slowing down of the patients respiratory rate causing the problem here. The problem is biochemical in nature and results from the confirmation change that the versed isomer goes through when introduced into an alcolotic environment. IE. the known alcolosis of...
There is a lot of literature that we have been tasked with reviewing at work (stupid accreditation review coming up) combined with personal experience, versed seems to further exacerbate a left shift on the oxyhemoglobin dissociation curve when it is given for the purposes of sedation. This is...
Thanks for looking at things thats half the battle is getting people to look at the page. I have figured if the woman on the bus who got bullied got 750,000 raised for her.... Getting some smaller help like this should be a bit easier (while still difficult). Thanks again!
Hi guys, I'm new to the forums here and am looking for any help that I can get from our great EMS community. I'm a full time critical care flight paramedic in Casper, Wyoming and have been flying here for about 9 years, and have been in EMS/Fire nearly 13 years now. During that time the one...
I would agree with you here!! Medic programs are getting quite picky with what they will and won't accept for precredit! I know ours here at our local college is REALLY picky and anything not taken there or at an accredited college, they won't take!!
No problem! These drugs are becoming more and more prevelant because we are doing a better job at putting the smack down on "conventional" drugs. When that happens designer drugs a made using small amounts of the hard to obtain "parent" drug, in this case cocaine. That is the reason why the...
The certification that you are looking for is one that I am actually certified in. The class is called AHLS or Advanced Hazmat Life Support. It is an expensive class to take and is by far one of the most difficult classes that I have ever taken. It is designed for Medics, Physicians and...
If you get to the max dose and you have ROSC then you need to start a drip. This is why you need to carry enough to mix a drip large enough to get you to the hospital. If you do NOT get ROSC you need to switch to some other drug like Lidocaine.
I would have to agree with you here. Versed would by NO MEANS be my first choice here! I would be far more likely to give 1-2 mg of ativan for this if I DID give anything. The neat thing about anxiety induced hyperventilation is that eventually they will blow off all of their CO2, they will get...
If you have any possibility of getting it GO AFTER KETAMINE!
Let me let you in on a little secret that many physicians, services and even pharmacists don't yet know about this EXTREMELY old drug. It can be used in subdissociative dosing for analgesia that is 1000 times better then Dilaudid...
We use the CRAP out of it on our aircraft and not just for sedation. Let me let you in on a little secret that many physicians, services and even pharmacists don't yet know about this EXTREMELY old drug. It can be used in subdissociative dosing for analgesia that is 1000 times better then...
We have seen this stuff in small quantities here where I live, in Casper,Wy. I know thats hard to believe as we are out in the middle of nowhere, but it follows the HUGE meth trade that we have here. I work with a hospital based flight service here and we have actually transported a few people...
I would say no
I would say with the information that you provided that this more than likely would not be a complete heart block. Of course there is no way for me to say exactly without having the 12 lead in front of me. The true moral of this story is that 12 lead interpretation on ANY monitor...
