    LA County Fire.....

As others have said, it hasn't changed much in the 7 years since I left. I had been sent BLS on patients with multi-system trauma, penetrating trauma to the trunk, chest pain that ended up being STEMI.... you name it and LAclownyFire has sent it BLS. I now work as a paramedic in a neighboring...

    "Command Channel" for EMS Operations

all mototurbo radios can page on the digital channels, they can also text message each other and private call. we use one dispatch channel for the county with fire and ems (about 150 units) you can silence the radio until you are paged which is great at night because you dont hear anything until...

Wake County EMS finds that longer CPR saves lives

the study was presented to the NEMSP conference in January, why are we only now learning about this? how many lives could have been prolonged in the 6 months since then? business as usual for EMS, day late and a dollar short.

American Heart to start new PHP BLS courses

we use this in my county, it works great! easier than 30:2 and we have instituted many other changes as well so its hard to say what is causing an increase in survival... but in the past 5 years that we have been actively implementing changes in our resuscitation (read: not AHA guidelines) we...

American Heart to start new PHP BLS courses

many areas have already implemented this and are showing great results, trials (which I am trying to find again) show a much smaller decrease in CPP than a pause for ventilation.

    NCTI Santa Barbara

I think part time is the best, it gives you time to read and study. and not really, you are supposed to get preferential treatment for a paramedic job if you and a different applicant are equal in all other areas.

    NCTI Santa Barbara

Maybe I can clear it up a little for you. 1. Yes NCTI-SB is still active. After the current class is over in May, there will be another A&P class then a medic class usually about 3 months after the prior one finished. However the bosses in roseville make the schedule so that is subject to...

    Shore Power Alternative

before we had shore power at every station we had solar panels installed on the roofs. worked great on clear days but we still had a lot of dead batteries when we got dispatched to those 6am calls... I would say the best is to use a combination of solar panels and a dedicated battery bank for...

    Intubation and Spontaneous Respirations

yes, the patient can spontaneously breathe though the tube and BVM, there is a one way flutter valve in the bvm that allows the patient to breathe even when you are not actively bagging. so I would say yes it is possible that the patient was breathing in addition to your (the FD) ventilation...

    Switching ePCR Software Provider

NEMSIS requires that all EPCR data is formatted in the same XML format with the same 380 (about to be 536) data points. Image-trend is compliant with this and as long as ESO is nemsis gold compliant as well they can migrate directly over so long as no runs currently on eso servers have the same...

    Disposable CPAP and Peep

we used to have the Pulmodyne unit, and before that the bousignaick (SP?) but we have switched to the FlowSafe and love it. the bousignick had no control, it was all guess work as to how much PEEP the person was actually getting. but it was very simple and took up no space. the pulmodyne...

Progressive EMS Reform Bills in Congress! - EMS ADVOCACY

I am unaware of any new standards that are in effect, could you please post a link? the speed limit in NFPA1917 is 77mph which I believe is adequate for all states and in faster than I would ever want to be in the back of an ambulance anyway.

Progressive EMS Reform Bills in Congress! - EMS ADVOCACY

as opposed to what other standards? KKK? many states out there do not have any standards and as I see it the NFPA standards take a much better opinion on provider safety and ergonomics than KKK does. I am in full support of the NFPA ambulance standards.

Rma for minor via cell phone (nj)

fairly clear cut, if they dont want treatment then I am not going to treat. turn them over to LEO as an unaccompanied minor and let them deal with who to give the kid to. its a stand-by so you have plenty of time to work that out. I have called the agency that is the LEO for the area the parents...
